Explain How Andrew Goodwin's theory relates to the video. Task 2.

The genre of Katy perry California girls would be classed as a pop song. This can be seen by the specific conventions used within the music video. some of these specific conventions would be; bright colours, positive lyrics and a smily performance. Also with that in a pop song you tend to see a simple dance routine that a younger audience could follow and learn.

Katy Perry shows her own conventions which the audience have come to expect to see within her music videos which would be a lot flesh and also some crazy customs and different hair styles and colours.

for example example below you can see that Katy Perry is wearing nothing whilst laying on top of what appers to be a candy floss cloud. Also to the right of that is another one of Katy Perry's wild customs with also the dancers in similar customs. This represents the type of person she is because her customs are outgoing but also fun and makes her attractive.

At the start of the video a lyric from Snoop Dog states 'lets take a journey loved ones' and places a figure of Katy perry on a board which looks like she is ready for some sort of journey of game.

Towards the end of the video the speed of the video cuts each time to the beat it happens around four times and stays in the same area but movies onto a different clip. This shows that the speed of the music is going with the beat to each shot to show a bit of everyone to finalise the video.

Katy Perry's video is seen as a fantasy land and could relate to charlie and thechocolate factory this would be because of the land of chocolate and sweets where everything can be eaten.
This video can also relate to Alice in Wonderland because in Alice in Wonderland create a feel that everything is bigger than her which is just like Katy perry where the land and everything is much bigger than her and is overwhelming.

These images here are showing the
representation between both Katy Perry
and Alice in Wonderland by showing how
both lands are towering of the main
characters.
